Did
you know that Locust Hills Golf Course has one
of the biggest trees in the State of Illinois? |
|
The
White Oak tree is located on the 11th hole. In it's heyday, the tree
was 60 feet tall and had a circumference of 17'6" at the base. The crown was over 125 feet wide! The tree
was severely damaged in a bad storm in 2006 but it
continues to be a great conversation piece for the
course. It is Certified
by The Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Division
of Forest Resources.
